About The Heart Institute of the Caribbean Foundation
Our Objectives and Priorities:
Promote the prevention, early diagnosis and effective treatment of heart and vascular diseases; |

Improve access to quality cardiovascular care for all the citizens of the
Caribbean; |
|
Raise funds to support infrastructural, program development, establishment of specialized services and expertise at the Heart Institute of the Caribbean. |
|
Raise funds to subsidize high quality advanced cardiovascular care for
Caribbean citizens who desperately need but cannot afford these services; |
|
Organize timely educational and professional development programs that promote improved care for patients with cardiovascular related disorders; |
|
Promote the training and certification of Caribbean citizens in the health
professions through increased educational opportunities, scholarships,
institutional development as well as creating opportunities throughout the world for scholars from the Caribbean; |
|
Increase the number of Board Certified Cardiologists practicing in the
Caribbean as well as the technicians, facilities, equipment and supplies to offer the best cardiovascular care that is available in developed countries; |
|
Sponsor and encourage relevant research and demonstration projects that promise to improve the understanding of disease processes and the delivery of medical services in the Caribbean; |
|
Promote a social climate that promotes and protect the interests of physicians and their families and encourage physicians who were born in the Caribbean but practicing elsewhere to return to their roots and offer their services to the citizens of the Caribbean. |

Collaborate and work with international organizations and institutions to support training, public education and infrastructural development for
cardiovascular care in the Caribbean. |
|
Work with legislators, government officials and political leaders in the
Caribbean as well as multilateral organizations and agencies to shape and influence policy in support of cardiovascular care in the Caribbean. |
|
Promote universal access to cardiopulmonary resuscitative skills and
equipment in the lay community across the Caribbean. |
|
Promote school site and work site programs that increase public awareness and preventive strategies for heart disease and stroke. |
|
Work with the media and broadcasting industry to make public service
programs on heart disease and stroke prevention a part of our media culture. |
|
Bring focus to the economic consequences of poor health especially in
relation to lifestyle diseases like obesity, hypertension, diabetes and
smoking. |
